  • Government Expands Critical Habitat Rules...The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service have expanded their critical habitat regulations, which could lead to an increase in the amount of state, local and private land designated by the government as essential for threatened or endangered species. A critical habitat designation can result in restrictions on how a parcel of land may be used and lead to increased costs for projects that require federal authorizations or licenses. More
  • NAR Affirms Support for Appraisal Threshold...NAR favors the current $250,000 threshold for appraisals in federally related real estate transactions and has submitted a letter to the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act (EGRPRA) that underscores its support. Details
  • FCC Proposes Consumer Internet Privacy Rule...The Federal Communications Commission has released a proposed regulation that would require Internet service providers to clearly disclose how they collect personal consumer data and share it with third parties, as well as how the data is used by those organizations. NAR will provide comments to the FCC on the proposed rule once the proposal is adopted. More
